Colors for hope and equality
Farger for håp og likeverd
2018–2030

A collaborative natural dye project with 4 th grade pupils at Møllergata school in Oslo and gallery Tenthaus Oslo.

Concept

Anually I arrange natural dye workshops for all the pupils at 4th grade. For three weeks we meet after school using natural dye, withered flowers and foodwaste to make protest T-shirts and a banner that grows every year.

While we make, we talk about equality. What does that mean? We talk about violence towards women. How can we stand up for each other? What are their dreams, hopes and plans for the future? What can we do to improve lives for all?  We talk, draw, sew, and our banner grows. The walls in Tenthaus gallery get filled with our sketches, texts, thoughts and then we invite people to come and see.

Annually, on November 25th , UN International day to eradicate violence towards women, we exhibit the banner in the school yard, wear our protest T-shirts and make a protest circle with all the students at the school.

Support

The project is generously supported by Sparebankstiftelsen and Oslo Municipal.

NI EN MORE

In NI EN MORE we fight for equality and no-violenc using botanical dye as a way to develop economical independence for women in Cd Juárez exposed to violence. The same dye technique I am teaching the children at 4th grade. And sharing stories from life in Juárez and how natural dye could be a way leading to change.
