65 299 KNOTS
– A PAIN REGISTRY

A personal story

Concept

65 299 Knots – A Pain Registry starts from a personal story. In 2009 I had to go through a thorough surgery that caused pain and a long recovery time. I used the situation to research pain. A daily objective study knotting knots in thin silk thread. The project lasted 92 weeks. I attached the knots to week plans and framed them.

The viewer is invited to see the work through magnifying glasses. The glasses are included for both visual and conceptual purposes; Visually to reveal details and bring the viewer close physically, conceptually to bring pain into close inspection. In what way do we pay attention to pain;  our own and what we see in others?

Pulse

The practice of creating a work through a daily ritual, as in the project 65299 Knots, I got from my Pulse project. With Pulse I investigate the intense presence that arises from sensing the pulse with fingers dipped in fingerprint dust and transferring the imprint to a drawing film.
